Back in October, many (myself included) expected Appleto announce an iPhone with a new design and a larger display. Despite nearly 18 months of rumors pointing to a radically different iPhone, Apple didn’t announce anything magical, innovative or jaw-dropping. Instead, they announced the iPhone 4S, a mostly minor upgrade to its predecessor, the iPhone 4.

Shortly after the announcement and release of the iPhone 4S, however, rumors of a larger and redesigned iPhone resumed. And while the next iPhone announcement is at least a few months away, imaginations are in full swing. Apple fans across the Web are putting their imaginations and Photoshop skills to work and they are coming up with some pretty unique designs.

Over the past year, countless next-gen iPhone concepts have graced the Web. Most – if not all – of them can be found over at our network site, Today’s iPhone, where the awesome Cam Bunton works around the clock (and halfway across the globe) to keep Apple fans updated on all news about iDevices. Some concepts have sported futuristic features like a slim projector or laser keyboard, others show an ultra slim, teardrop profile and a larger, edge-to-edge display.

Some of said concepts have been noteworthy and lustrous. Others … not so much. But of all of the next-generation iPhone concepts I have seen to date, none of them have been quite as well-rounded, smooth or svelte as the current iPhone style. None of them, looked very … Apple-like. And most of them aren’t something that I could see myself lining up to get.

That said, one that appeared on Today’s iPhone yesterday evening is – for a lack of better words – sexy. It doesn’t exactly look like an Apple product either. But it’s just too beautiful to dislike. Of all the different concepts to surface, this is the one I hope the next iPhone resembles. This particular concept comes from designer Antione Brieux and doesn’t shy on alterations to current models.

So what are the specifics?

Internally, it will hold a monster, quad-core A6 processor, which would also call for a larger battery (or so I would assume). Not much else is mentioned about the innards, but as you can see in the picture above (and the one below), most of the changes in this version would be in its chassis and design.

The first thing you will notice is the different materials used. Recent rumors have suggested the next iPhone will make use of LiquidMetal (which Apple acquired the rights to) over the current steel frame or aircraft aluminum used in other Apple devices. You will also notice a slight convex on the back casing (which would give it a more comforting feel than the current flat slab of glass) and various port and button changes. The display is (nearly) edge-to-edge and measures 4.5-inches. While still indented, the home button is not a physical button; it is capacitive. The 3.5mm headphone jack has been moved from the top left corner to the middle of the top edge. There is also no visible power button on the top edge. Instead, it is located on the upper portion of the right edge (Samsung-esque, no?). The mute switch is flush with the left edge and the volume buttons are rectangular and also flush. Lastly, Cam notes there is no SIM card slot, as it is embedded within the phone.

Is everyone back down to Earth yet? … Good.

We don’t know what the next iPhone will look like. We don’t even know if it will actually feature a larger display or not. But, whatever the case, this is what I hope it looks like in the end, down to the very last detail. I will be the first to admit, though, that something as immoderately different as this is extremely unlikely. After all, this is just a concept made by a designer with a good idea and some awesome Photoshop skills. And while it’s undoubtedly beautiful, a lot of alterations would have to be made to arrive at something like this. Change, however, is something Apple is resistant to.

I’ll have my fingers crossed, nonetheless.

What say you, people? Is this what you hope the next iPhone looks like, too? Or is one of the other concepts to surface what you’re hoping for?

Travel agents were afraid to bring up the subject of travel insurance for fear of losing the overall deal. It was considered a negative.
Not anymore. Whether it’s your trip, your possessions, your luggage, or your health, travel insurance — and most important, the right kind of travel insurance — has become an essential item to pack for smart travelers. And if you don’t buy travel insurance — or the right kind — more than your trip could be ruined.
According to the U.S. Travel Insurance Association, about 30 percent of Americans purchase travel insurance, an increase from 10 percent before 9/11. The top three reasons are: peace of mind, protection against the unexpected and concern over losing the financial investment in a trip. Some 70 percent of cruisers buy travel insurance.
While a majority of those who don’t buy travel insurance are familiar with flight and trip cancellation insurance, many people are unaware of travel health insurance, baggage coverage and medical evacuation insurance. Even among travel insurance buyers, only 50 percent were aware of medical evacuation insurance.

Patrick Dempsey rescues teen after car crash
The “Grey’s Anatomy” star rescued a teenage driver this week after he crashed his car into the front yard of the actor’s M…
Crying baseball tot’s mom: ‘He doesn’t get everything all the time’
Seeing double: Portraits of girls and their American Girl dolls
There’s yet another kind of insurance that’s available to air travelers that the airlines aren’t exactly rushing to tell you about. In fact, they actually wish you didn’t know about it. It’s called excess valuation.
Reasons to buy travel insurance
1. Your flight has been cancelled.
2. Your bags are lost and your medication is in it. You need to have an emergency prescription filled.
3. Your passport and wallet are stolen, and you need emergency cash and a replacement passport.
4. You’re involved in an accident and adequate medical treatment is not available. You need medical evacuation.
5. You need to cancel your trip due to illness.
6. Your cruise line, airline or tour operator goes bankrupt. You need your non-refundable expenses covered and to get to your destination.
7. You have a medical emergency in a foreign country.
8. A terrorist incident occurs in the city where you’re planning to visit and you want to cancel your trip.
9. A hurricane forces you to evacuate your resort, hotel or cruise.
Here are the basics types of insurance:
Flight insurance
Many of us grew up noticing those insurance kiosks at airports. They offer to pay out big bucks if you bought the insurance, the plane crashed and you were on it. Advice: This is not necessary. In fact, if you annualized the premium, it’s the most expensive kind of travel insurance you can buy, and probably the least necessary. My advice: NO.

Trip Cancellation and Interruption insurance
This is a biggie. The key here is price point. If you’re flying on a $59 Southwest Airlines ticket from Burbank to Las Vegas, you have an incredibly small investment to protect. You shouldn’t buy trip cancellation and interruption insurance. A $15,000 once-in-a-lifetime cruise vacation? My advice: YES. Buy this insurance. If you get sick, or miss your trip, or the travel provider (airline, cruise line, bus transfer company) goes out of business, you’re not left high and dry. You’re covered. My advice: YES, with one additional caution. Do NOT buy this insurance from the individual travel provider, meaning don’t buy your cruise trip insurance from the cruise ship company. Why? If that company goes out of business, chances are, so does their insurance.
Health Care insurance
This is perhaps the most confusing area. Most people think they are covered if they already have existing health care insurance. Within the United States, that’s true. Outside the U.S., however, is a big IF. And in some cases, your insurance won’t even cover you if you’re traveling on a foreign-flagged vessel. This is a huge red flag, since most cruise ships, even those cruising U.S. waters, are not flagged in the U.S.
And in many cases, even if you are covered for basic emergency care overseas (again, a big IF), in almost all cases, your current health insurance does NOT cover you to evacuate you and repatriate you back to the U.S. This is where “Medical Evacuation and Repatriation” insurance comes into play. I believe this is essential for anyone who travels. It’s an insurance program (usually an annual premium, not often purchased per trip) where if you get sick or injured overseas the policy will get you treated, stabilized and flown back to the U.S. There are a number of good companies that provide this plan, two of which are Travel Guard and Medjet Assist. The annual premium is about $300, and it’s the card you hope you never have to use. My Advice: YES, get this, with another important caveat: read the fine print. With Travel Guard and Medjet assist, these policies provide that they will get you initially treated and stabilized and then send a medically equipped and staffed jet to fly you to the doctor and medical facility of your choice. This is crucial. Outside of Travel Guard and Medjet assist, many other companies that offer this insurance will fly you to the doctor and medical facility of their choice.
And then there’s another reason for getting this coverage: If you’re in a foreign country, particularly a developing country, many hospitals will admit you without caring about coverage, but they won’t let you leave until you pay. Travel insurance can help facilitate payment, and act as an advocate so that you’re not overcharged because you’re an American.
Baggage insurance
Many trip cancellation and interruption policies also provide coverage for lost, damaged, delayed or stolen bags…And this is especially necessary if you’re flying overseas and checking bags. Why? Because of a nasty little thing called the Warsaw Convention.. The old Warsaw Convention limits liability to approximately $9.07 per pound for checked baggage and $400 per passenger for unchecked baggage. Do the math. If you’re only allowed 44 pounds of baggage as a coach passenger, you’re not getting a fat check.
But if you’re just flying between U.S. cities and think you have no need for a larger trip cancellation and interruption policy, you may think you are simply covered by the airlines’ published limits of liability when it comes to lost, stolen, delayed or damaged bags.
Indeed, at least on the surface, it seems like you’re covered. As of Feb. 28, 2007, U.S. airlines’ liability for lost or damaged luggage increased to $3,000 per passenger from the current limit of $2,800. Sounds good, right? Well, let’s talk about that limit in realistic terms: First, there’s an entire list of excluded items not covered (jewels, furs, negotiable financial documents, et al), and then there’s something called….depreciation. The airlines may have a $3,000 liability limit, but that limit is not per bag, it’s per incident, and it’s all based on depreciated value. Hardly anyone in the history of aviation has ever received $3,000.
But there’s a little known insurance provision you’ve probably never heard about. And the airlines aren’t exactly rushing to tell you about it. In fact, not one single airline even advertises this provision, even though it’s available to every single passenger. It’s something called “excess valuation.”
When you get to the airport, ask the counter agent for this little known option called“excess valuation.” It provides up to $5,000 additional coverage, at a rate of about $1 per $100 in value. If you purchase excess valuation, you will be asked to describe the contents of the bag. It’s well worth it if the airline does lose your bags.

Non-refundable insurance
Some policies also offer straight coverage if you buy the non-refundable airline ticket and then can’t use it and don’t want to be hit with the minimum $100 change fee. This runs about $13 per $100 of coverage. An expensive premium, but still worth it if you really think you might have to change your trip once you purchase your ticket.
Golf travel insurance
Travel Guard provides golf equipment loss, golf equipment delay, golf fee refund. In addition, every Golf Travel Insurance Plan customer will also receive AIG Travel Guard’s Golf Concierge Services, which includes golf course recommendations and driving directions, tee time reservations, PGA-Professional referral service and much. If get a hole-in-one, we’ll reimburse for the celebratory round of drinks (up to $250) at the clubhouse.
Adventure/extreme sports travel
In most cases, there are exclusions on basic travel insurance when it comes to adventure travel. That means specifications on how high is the mountain you’re climbing, and how far are you scuba diving. However, third-party travel insurance can offer additional coverage for adventure and extreme sports—even professional sporting events can be covered, but it will cost you.

Credit card coverage
If you book your trip on a credit card, you may already be covered in many cases. But more often than not, your basic credit card coverage will be limited to flight accident insurance, rental car insurance or limited baggage insurance. Be sure to read your card’s terms and conditions, or call your credit card provider’s toll-free line for guidance.
Terrorism tips
Read the policy wording carefully. If war breaks out, or there is a terrorist act, are there clauses that essentially void your policy? Very few policies cover trip cancellation for reasons of any kind. Most policies now include “force majeure” clauses. For example, most policies now still cover trip cancellation if the U.S. State Department issues a travel warning. Also many policies only cover you for your trip if an act of terrorism occurs in the specific country you’re traveling to or from. And they set limits on how close an attack has to be to your destination before it goes into effect. You generally must buy the policy before violence erupts to be covered. But almost all policies will not cover any losses caused by war or threat of war.
Call and talk to the agency personally, ask them the specific questions you have before your trip, to put your mind at ease. Some insurance plans cover you only if a travel company formally files for bankruptcy protection. (Not every policy covers every bankruptcy.) Other policies leave it up to the U.S. State Department, law enforcement agencies or news media outlets – not you – to define what constitutes a terrorist attack, foreign or domestic.
Understand that most insurance policies won’t cover last-minute anxiety. After the Sept. 11 attacks, for example, Travel Guard reimbursed customers who canceled trips because they were afraid to fly. While Travel Guard felt it was the right thing to do, it’s unlikely the insurer will do it again. It was the costliest event in the history of that company.
To buy, or not to buy?
Compare the cost of the trip versus the cost of the policy. If you just bought a $200 airline ticket, is that worth covering? If you paid for it with a credit card, and the airline ceases to operate before your flight, you’re already covered – under federal credit laws – by your own credit card company, since you bought or contracted for a service which you didn’t get.
Look for a policy with a travel insurer that is independent from your tour operator and is licensed by your state. Many cruise lines and tour operators offer insurance, often at lower premiums than those charged by outside insurers. But if the cruise line or tour company goes out of business, there may not be money to cover your claim.
If flight or cruise delays make you want to cancel, you may be out of luck. Read the fine print, as with some policies, more than half of your vacation has to be delayed before you can cancel and be covered.

When a user does Google search he or she gets relevant ads from Google relevant to that search query. This is how Google delivers relevant ads to people and generate revenues for itself from advertisers. Google recently blogged about making ads better for everyone. Through this, Google suggested how advertisers can make safe ads which are both relevant and profitable.

Especially, avoiding spam is important. Google passes ads through its own process of evaluation after which it removes ads which have malware and can spread spam. To make these ads better for users, Google has spent millions on the system annually.

Thus, Google claims that “bad ads” have declined 50% within a year from 2010 and in 2011, users had better ads to click on. It removed around 130 million of these malware ads. Hence, the ads are now in short more clickable.

Google has come up with the following improvements:

Improved “query watch” for counterfeit ads: While anyone can report counterfeit ads, we’ve widened our proactive monitoring of sensitive keywords and queries related to counterfeit goods which allows us to catch more counterfeit ads before they ever appear on Google.

New “risk model” to detect violations: Our computer scanning depends on detailed risk models to determine whether a particular ad may violate our policies, and we recently upgraded our engineering system with a new “risk model” that is even more precise in detecting advertisers who violate our policies.

Faster manual review process: Some ads need to be reviewed manually. To increase our response time in preventing ads from policy-violating advertisers, we sped up our internal processes and systems for manual reviews, enabling our specialists to be more precise and fast.

Twenty-four hour response time: We aim to respond within 24 hours upon receiving a reliable complaint about an ad to ensure that we’re reviewing ads in a timely fashion.

Social media has power, no matter which website or social network you use mostly, depending on your part of the region. Because not everywhere a website or a social network is strong, but in general social media is powerful. A video made on YouTube could be shared on any website or made to transfer to any other free-sharing video site or can be e-mailed.

Thus, it does not matter which social network or which website the message has been put on, the message once out in the social media spread automatically with the power of a click. Same happened with the video that Jason Russell made to help out his Ugandan friend who was abducted by Joseph Kony, but luckily escaped and was rescued. He came to America to spread awareness about Kony who is the most-wanted man today by the International Criminal Court. The problem in capturing Kony is that his location is unclear and no authority could fight him off since Ugandans don’t have enough force.

The filmmaker proposes to use the power of not just the social media, but also of those who are culturally and governmentally influential, the celebrities and the policy-makers. As has been made clear in the video, this is an experiment which is being conducted to see whether the power of social media remains till the line of spreading awareness about Kony or goes beyond into real action of actually stopping his crimes.

Some skeptics, who could be right, think that it is again a soft use of power by the war-propagandists to enter Uganda for its natural resources. The truth is what you make of it. You can watch the video here and can join the Facebook here.

Twitter now knows the power it has because users now have the potential it holds for them being able to communicate with the world. Considering this global approach, Twitter has launched support for further languages of North Africa, Central Asia, and the Middle East. The new languages in which users can now tweet are Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew, and Urdu. The addition of these languages also allows Twitter to expand itself to territories.

In Afghanistan, one journalist who constantly faces death threat both from his own people and government as well as due to the on-going conflict in his own country tweets in order to report on the current situation. For Pakistani Twitter users, they can now feel comfortable tweeting in their own language to communicate to their own local audience. Twitter users follow their favourite public figures, celebrities, companies and friends.

The Pakistani Twitter communicate is also very active with many bloggers and social media entrepreneurs using the site effectively. Hindi was added late last year, which is a language understood in India, but Urdu is not just one of the official languages of Pakistan, the other being English, but it is also the lingua franca of the country.

Urdu is also understood really well to the origin it belongs, namely the western India and also in parts of Afghanistan. Getting this part of South Asia through the micro-blogging platform of Twitter holds many possibilities of people getting closer together. This will also help cross-border communication between the nations which is otherwise severed.

Just as the new technologies emerge, newer ways of dealing with their impacts also come out just as they get mixed in a society. In the wrong hands, however, these technologies could prove fatal. There have been many cybercrimes which have taken place in different parts of the world since the internet first emerged. These crybercriminals have also been caught by the police through the help of the internet itself.

The information has become sensitive since most people post online many things which sometimes should not be written. Using these very information and other gathered data, police have also strengthened their intelligence. Of late, since Facebook has become such a huge social networking tool for people, cybercrimes have also reportedly increased on the website.

Recently, an interesting inforgraphic was released by Criminal Justice Degrees Guide, which shows how 20 different cybercrimes committed on Facebook were successfully solved. For the complete detail on this, click here.

Capturing cybercriminals

In Pakistan, internet users have not taken a lot to social networking. Those who have know the power of social media and its far-reaching connectivity. There are all kinds of crimes in this country. Even that of intelligence and having nature of information. Such is there seriousness that big intelligence agencies are involved and the government factors could also be felt.

But as of yet, Pakistanis have been secured in the rising crimes of the cyberspace. The law enforcement agencies however should also include internet in their domain of jurisprudence, so that those who deceive others over the internet, should be caught.

Chances are slim for a teenager who needs a kidney. Only two-percent of the population could make a potential match. His mother thinks Facebook could help them find the kidney they need.
All Blake Jordan Pearce wants right now is his BMX bike and a ramp.
It’s all he can do to move around right now. A dialysis session wiped him out for the day.
“You just take it day by day and just hope one day you get the call,” Blake said.
Blake and his mother, Stephanie, live in Oklahoma. They’ve been staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Dallas since January.
That’s when Blake developed an infection and was taken by medical helicopter to Children Medical Center.
“Watching him just fight to live is excruciating. It is. It is. You have a kid and it’s your heart,” Stephanie Pearce said.
Blake’s fight for life started March 19, 1994. That was the day he was born. It was traumatic. His mother was rushed to the hospital where doctors performed an emergency C-section.
Blake had to be resuscitated. “All of his organs shut down to save the brain,” his mother said.
His kidneys suffered most. “When he was 13. They quit working all together,” she said.
Blake received his first kidney transplant in 2007. But his body rejected it. “He’s the only patient in the world which has rejected it within 2 weeks of transplant,” she said.
Stephanie Pearce said they knew the kidney had come from an alcohol related fatality. What found out later was that the kidney not only tested positive for alcohol but for marijuana and cocaine as well.
Because his body rejected the first kidney, it’s likely to reject any kidney that is biologically similar. That’s almost everyone.
Dr. Dev Desai is Blake’s transplant surgeon at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. “So, only two percent of the local or regional population would be a potential match for Blake,” said Dr. Desai.
Dr. Desai did the math. If there are four million people in the Metroplex, two-percent would be 80,0000 people.
Widening the net would help which is why Stephanie Pearce has turned to Facebook to help her son find a kidney.

3,100 people have already “liked” his page called “Blake Jordan’s Miracle.“
More than a thumbs up he needs a kidney from a living donor. It can’t be anyone with high blood pressure or diabetes and the blood type needs to be O-positive.
Blake is 17. He just wants to live like everyone else.
Anyone needing more information can contact Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.

There is a certain list of words using which on the social media a user can get under the radar of the Homeland Security. Regardless of where you are in the world, use of these specific words, either singularly or together, will make your tweet or a status update to be thoroughly checked by the security experts for precaution. Recently, the complete list of words was released by Hubze. Now, this does not mean that the Homeland Security gets alerted only when you use these words during your social media activity, but in short, it is keeping a distant eye on everything that you do.

One does not need to be psyched by this, because it does not matter to them what you do provided you are not a threat in their book. Even if someone from your contacts has used one of the words on the list, even then your whole profile will also be checked. The Homeland Security calls such things as “Items of Interest”, which means that you might prove to be of their interest in connection with the person who has used that particular word listed.

Hence, it has been proven yet again that the Homeland Security checks everything on their social media monitoring, which includes not only the social networking sites, but also other sites which have commenting options and other options of interaction. It is like almost surveillance of the whole internet. It has been costing the taxpayers around $11 million to keep this system up and running.

It would appear that Facebook has begun to roll out, as expected, the timeline for pages. It isn’t visible to everyone, so until the change are available to all Facebook accounts, you can get an idea of what they’re going to look like, pimped out with the new layout, by checking out Coca Cola and Starbucks official pages, among others.

The change will be available to all Facebook users by the end of March, about 3 months after the feature was fully rolled out to personal accounts, and will no doubt help boost Facebook’s marketing and advertising edge among brands even more.

Here at Vsocio.com, we’ve been able to preview what our official page will look like once the new design is available and this is how it’s going to look:

We’ve already seen how creative users have gotten with the timeline on their personal pages, as we as seen with the Anti-Drugs Timeline Message, and with marketeers adding the new Facebook layout to their bag of tools, they will no doubt find interesting and creative ways to promote their products.
